About Introduction to Instruction
Welcome to your first Instructional Leadership Course, Introduction to Instruction. In this course you will engage in four learning modules designed to equip you with the basics of instruction at NHA.
- In the first module, Instruction at NHA, you will gain a big picture view of instruction at NHA including the required core instructional time blocks and programs in place to support all types of learners.
- In the second module, Introduction to Instructional Resources, you will learn about the NHA resources that have be created and curated to support instruction in your building. You will also explore the curriculum website as a one-stop-shop for all your basic resource needs.
- In the third module, Introduction to NHA’s Assessment Strategy, you will gain and understanding of our assessment strategy at NHA and the common assessments that are provided and required across core content areas and grade levels.
- In the fourth and final module, Foundations of Special Education, you will review the basic principles of IDEA and IEPs to ensure you are set up to support your students with special needs and their teachers.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course, leaders will be able to:
- Understand the vision for instruction at NHA
- Explore ways in which deans lead core instruction, Systematic Intervention, Special Pops, and Excel-erate
- Understand what resources are in place to support core instruction at NHA and how to access these resources
- Understand how to access resources to support intervention and special population students.
- Establish Value in Assessments
- Communicate Overall NHA Assessment Strategy
- Name the assessments within NHA Assessment Strategy and where to locate each
- Determine administration schedule for NHA Assessments
- Commit to championing the NHA Assessment Strategy
- Understand the 6 pillars of federal special education law and the keys to implementing each component within the school environment.
